In this captivating talk, Koen Fraussen, an internationally recognised mollusc specialist and passionate shell collector, takes you on a surprising journey of discovery along our coastline.
Things that may seem ordinary at first glance often reveal an unexpected story. A piece of cuttlebone, for instance, turns out to be the internal skeleton of a remarkably intelligent cephalopod. And an apparently harmless shell may be linked to a history shaped by the slave trade.
Every find becomes the starting point of a fascinating story where biology, history, culture and gastronomy come together.
