Exhibition Grand Séjour - Brent Bourguignon
“The Belgian coast is ugly, grey and overdeveloped.”
At least, that’s what you often hear.
With the exhibition GRAND SÉJOUR, artist Brent Bourguignon takes a different look at this stereotypical image.
He does so through a series of large oil paintings that explore the boundary between painting and sculpture.
His work depicts endless façades of anonymous apartment blocks, a population that increases tenfold in the space of just a few days, and hordes of day-trippers in search of a glimpse of the North Sea.
GRAND SÉJOUR offers a personal perspective on life at the coast and on the people who make it what it is.
The exhibition is complemented by a selection of earlier works.
About the artist
Brent Bourguignon (°1996) is a Belgian painter and graphic novel artist based in Blankenberge. He works mainly with oil paint on wooden panels, in a distinctly realistic style. His work combines a cinematic atmosphere, humour and images that always have a story to tell.
His passion for painting is also reflected in his illustrations and graphic novels, where he specialises in fully painted stories, often influenced by film, architecture and music.
Brent has already taken part in several group exhibitions in Blankenberge, Brugge, Gent and Rotterdam. The exhibition in De Panne will be his first solo exhibition.
