Houtsaeger walk
Let yourself be surprised by the varied nature of the Houtsaegerduinen. You walk along sandy, grassy and woodland paths past pools and open dunes, where grazing donkeys (and sometimes sheep) help shape the landscape. This lesser-known natural area is a peaceful place full of variety and ideal to discover.
Tip: this walk takes you into the Houtsaegerduinen. There is also a lovely walking route around these dunes.

On your route
The Houtsaegerduinen, of course. These dunes used to be an open, damp dune area. Today, they lie enclosed between the residential areas of De Panne and St.-Idesbald, and the landscape has become much drier and overgrown with shrubs and young trees. Donkeys (and sometimes sheep) feel right at home here and are not bothered by nature-conscious walkers.

Walk around the Houtsaegerduinen too
After diving into the dunes, you can also explore the surroundings of this beautiful natural area. Follow the donkey path, walk through the d’Achte district and connect to the Kerkepannebos in Sint-Idesbald. Along the way, you also enjoy a section of shell path between the dunes and the coastline.
