Around the Houtsaegerduinen
Explore the area around the Houtsaegerduinen on this varied walk past nature and quiet residential districts. Follow the donkey path, walk through the d’Achte district and connect to the Kerkepannebos in Sint-Idesbald. Along the way, you also enjoy a section of shell path between the dunes and the coastline.
Tip: this walk takes you around the dunes. There is also a lovely route that lets you walk inside these dunes.

The Houtsaegerduinen and the neighbouring Kerkepannebos form a valuable green area on the Belgian coast. The dry dune landscape of the Houtsaegerduinen is among the best developed on the entire coast, and the Kerkepannebos is one of the oldest small woodlands by the sea.
The Houtsaegerduinen have special biological and landscape value. The dry semi-natural dune landscape with moss, lichen and grey hair-grass vegetation is among the best developed on the entire coast. The dune calcareous grasslands, with rare plants such as common rock-rose and bedstraw broomrape, are also of great importance. The presence of creeping marshwort and the great crested newt, two internationally protected species, is certainly worth mentioning too!
