This Christmas holiday, set out on a magical family walk through a world of light, music and wonder. Follow the story of Maurice, a bitter man whose heart may yet be touched by the spirit of Christmas. And the best part? The entire experience is completely free!
During this enchanting walk, Sam Louwyck shines as “Maurice” – the West Flanders version of Dickens’ iconic Ebenezer Scrooge. Across ten beautifully lit locations in the heart of De Panne and the picturesque Dumont District, the story unfolds through projections, sound and ambient lighting.
Follow the trail at your own pace, using your smartphone or the signposted route. Each scene loops continuously, so you can join in whenever you like and enjoy the experience without the crowds. Once a scene ends, a countdown timer shows when the next projection will begin.

- Free and open access between 4.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. (starting later means you may not see the full route)

The story
When his loyal employee Bob timidly asks for a day off for Christmas, Maurice responds as he always does – coldly, without compassion. But that same night, as Christmas lights flicker through the dark streets, he hears a voice… It’s Ronny, his late business partner, warning him he’s headed down the same lonely path if he doesn’t open his heart.
What follows is a magical Christmas night filled with mysterious visions. Maurice journeys through his past, present and future, facing the truth of his loveless life. Slowly, the walls around his heart begin to crack. By Christmas morning, he awakens transformed – ready to embrace warmth, generosity and the true spirit of Christmas once again.
