The best way to visit De Panne? Is by bike! Whether you come in from the Moeren, via France or via another municipality, nature is the first thing you will see. There is no better start to a visit to De Panne!
Shared bicycles: shared pleasure is double joy!
Our shared bicycles (60!) are scattered around fixed parking locations:
- The railway station
- The market
- The town hall
- Esplanade Square
- Zeelaan at the level of the tourism hub
But you can also find and return them at Koksijde, Veurne and Nieuwpoort! At these locations, recognisable bike racks are placed so that it is clear to users where the shared bicycles can be parked.
How does it work?
Mobit works exclusively with an app on your smartphone. In five simple steps, we will explain how this works:
Download the app for your smartphone from the Google Play Store or the App Store.
- Register, pay a deposit and add credit to your wallet.
- You can use the app to find a Mobit bike in your area. Once you arrive, you scan the QR code on the lock of the Mobit bike and the lock will open automatically.
- Use the bicycle for as long as you need it.
- Done cycling? Return your bicycle to one of the fixed parking locations and close the lock manually. Your trip is then automatically ended in the app.
The Mobit instructional video will help you geton your bike smoothly:
Flat tire or an accident?
If there are any problems with the bike, first end the ride. You can then report what is wrong with the bike in the app. In case of an accident, report it via the app. In case of physical injury, you should of course inform the police.
You will also find this information in the user manual of the Mobit app!
Have your bike engraved
The Local Government De Panne regularly organises free bicycle engraving events. The owner's national number is then engraved on the bicycle. If your bike is stolen, report it to the police. With the help of the national number, the police can immediately return your bike when it is found.
Bicycle pumps
Do you have a flat tyre? At each parking location, you will find pumps to inflate your bicycle tyres manually. These are completely free of charge.
Problem on the road?
De Panne invests in attractive, comfortable and sustainable cycling paths. Did you see a problem on the road that could be a danger to cyclists? Please report it via www.meldpuntwegen.be .
