Title Poetry in stone
Design Pieter-Hein Boudens (°1955, Bruges)
Material Portuguese granite blocks, Belgian Blue Stone
This literary artwork sets the tone for the spatial architecture of the pedestrianised square. The surface, which reflects the waves on the sea, was created from Portuguese granite blocks. They carry the letters in Belgian Blue Stone, which invite you to take a closer look...
The letters are made out of four structures. The first takes the shape of a gate and visually leads the viewer to other letters thereafter. The opening under the letter is the same size as a monobloc that is found further along. Further along again, there is a flat floor stone. The whole sculpture contains artful anecdotes, enigmas and aesthetic letter shapes.
