This memorial was installed on 12 September 1948 to commemorate the ten mine clearance officers who lost their lives in De Panne during and shortly after the Second World War. On the curved commemorative tablet, you can see the coat of arms of the 2nd Mine clearance battalion to the left, and the symbol of the Belgian Mine clearance service to the right.
