Plage, près du Monument Leopold I, De Panne

As head of the army in unoccupied Belgium, King Albert I wanted to continue to be in command of the troops, which is why he established himself in October 1914 with his family and the royal household in the ‘royal villas’, four impressive villas of well-to-do families in De Panne. Not only prominent people, politicians and militaries visited, also many artists.

The 4 royal villas:

Pavillon Bortier
Villa de Terschueren
Villa Paul Maskens
Villa Saint-Joseph
